RASAYAN SHALA (PHARMACY)  

The Institute has a Pharmacy manufacturing various types of medicines to meet the requirements of indoor and outdoor hospitals as well as for research purposes. The Pharmacy is attached to the Department of Rasa Shastra and is involved in practical teaching and training to UG students and PG scholars in order to make them aware to the knowledge of preparation of Ayurvedic medicines. Much importance is attached to the maintenance of quality of the ingredients used in various medicinal preparations. GMP is followed in the Pharmacy. The medicines are prepared strictly according to the Ayurvedic methods especially those described in Bhaishjaya Ratnvali, Rasa Yoga Sagar, Siddha Yoga Sangrah, Siddha Bhaishjya Manimala, Yoga Ratnakar, Bhava Prakash, Sarangdhar Samhita, Unani Siddha Yoga Sangrah, etc. In addition, certain highly effective Yogas (types) are also prepared according to the methods laid down in Ayurvedic Scriptures. The Pharmacy is equipped with modern equipments and machineries. Traditionally used equipments are also available and are put to use wherever necessary in the method of preparation. On an average, around 125 varieties of Medicines worth about Rs. 25 lakhs are manufactured every year for dispensing in the Institute Hospitals, Research purposes etc.

In addition to manufacturing medicines used in the treatment of general diseases, the Pharmacy also prepares special medicines required for research purposes of Ph.D. and PG scholars. Such medicines are prepared in the presence of the concerned research scholars so as to make them fully aware of its ingredients, the method and the process of preparation.
